My relationship with Lakeland Ophthalmology started about 15 years ago when I had a hemorrhage in my eye. My General Practitioner reached out to Dr. Hirshfeld's Office on my behalf. The office was closed because the Dr. was in the process of moving to a new home. Dr. Hirshfeld insisted on seeing me immediately fearing that it might be a detached retina. He took his time examining me for more than an hour, taking time away from his big moving day. Who does that in this day and age? Since then I've recently had an issue with pressure in my other eye. Dr. Hirshfeld has performed 2 laser surgeries to release the pressure. He always takes the time to answer all my questions. The entire staff is incredible! From Minyi the Cinical Coordinator to Pooja who fought for me with my insurance company to get approval for my surgery instead of a cheaper option which wouldn't have been as effective, right down to Michelle in reception the staff is exceptional. Customer service like this is rare these days but it can still be found at Lakeland Ophthalmology.

I just had cataract surgery and am very pleased with the outcome. When I first went there my one eye was very bad that driving at night was a chore. I had surgery and was amazed at the difference, I could see everything after a few days and it continues to get better. I had the other eye done and I am very happy with the outcome. Dr Hirshfeld was great to talk to and told me like it was, no sugar coating, which made me decide to do it. I'm 82 yrs old and should have had it done years ago. Dr Hirshfeld was the only one to spell it out how bad it was and it should be done. The staff are all great people and it was a pleasure going there, they were always helpful and very courteous. I would recommend them with the highest of praise.

I found Dr Hershfeld after 2 others that did not help me at all. He was actually recommended by my eyeglass/prescription store! I had gone through many different prescriptions and nothing was working. Dr Hershfeld swooped in (as only he can do) and was able to figure out my situation immediately. I required surgery and felt thoroughly secure in his hands. Today I no longer need glasses and so far so good. I highly recommend him and his office staff for all your eye needs.

Dr. James Hirschfeld did the cataract surgery on both of my eyes 2 weeks ago. I am able to once again read my books and drive at night, two very important tasks for me. Dr. Hirschfeld and his office staff made the pre and post plan very straight forward and followed to a "T."

Having been away for three years, I had a lot of catching up to do with Dr. Hirschfeld (as well as his competent and very professional staff). As usual, he was thorough and completely answered all my questions. He doesn’t “over prescribe” which I think is important. Dr. Hirschfeld reminded me that I had my cataract surgery with him 11 years ago in which he put in what was called a toric lens and giving me for the first time in my life close to 20/20 vision — never had it before. I always wore glasses and contacts. As a result of my surgery with him over the last 11 years, I see really really really well at age 82. I see better than I did when I was 40. Highly recommend Dr Hirschfeld.

Dr. Hirschfeld has been my eye doctor for at least 15 years, probably longer than that. I came to him with a serious issue with my one eye, having already had a corneal transplant back in 2000. Through all my trials over these last 15 years, each and every time Dr. Hirschfeld has been there for me! In emergencies he made sure that I was seen immediately. Although, I wish I did not have to deal with the issues surrounding my eye, knowing that I have Dr. Hirschfeld as my Eye Doctor gives me great comfort. I had my first appointment today and I couldn’t be more satisfied. From walking through the front door to picking out my first pair of glasses everything was very smooth. Everyone that works here is friendly and accommodating, you can that tell they love what they do. I truly appreciated how comfortable I felt as a new patient and as a person who avidly avoids going to the doctor. Thank you!

Having to drive 1 hour for each of my visits to Dr. Hirschfeld office was well worth the trip. The surgery coordinator patiently explained all the details and associated costs for the entire procedure. The entire staff was very friendly. At each office visit, what was happening was again reviewed and my questions answered. Throughout the whole experience, I felt comfortable trusting Dr. Hirschfeld’s knowledge and skills in performing my cataract surgery. Thanks to Dr Hirschfield and his staff, I have gained my vision back, seeing clearly without any corrective lenses.
